GLADD Writing Prize
2025 competition: Intersecting Identities
GLADD is proud to launch the 2025 writing prize, this year with two separate competitions for students and early-career professionals.
Submissions are invited on the theme of 'Intersecting Identities', exploring LGBTQ+ medical and dental professionals and students' intersection of identities. This offers entrants a unique opportunity to explore ideas often neglected in undergraduate and postgraduate curricula and express their creative skills.
Participant Guidelines
- The competitions are open to anyone eligible as stated in the Terms and Conditions for each prize (see below).
- Entries may be of any arts and humanities format, excluding academic essays. The format chosen is up to you, and may encompass a wide variety of options, including but not limited to short stories, poems, plays, or however you wish to express your creativity to fit the theme of the competition.
- Entries can be of any length within reason. As a guide, we suggest a limit of 2000 words but we recognise that this may not be suitable for all forms of entries, and entry lengths are dependent on the chosen formats of pieces. If a chosen format necessitates a higher word count, you are welcome to email GLADD for advice.
- If a submission requires explanatory material this will be welcome but not required and may not be considered in the judging process. Explanatory material must be under 500 words.
- Submissions are accepted online only. We recommend scans, photos, or videos if physical items have been made.
- The deadline for submissions for both competitions is 14th November 2025 at 12:00pm. Submissions entered after this time will not be accepted.
- See below for full Terms and Conditions for each prize.
