GLADD is a national organisation with our membership spread right across the country and more than 50% of members coming from outside of London.

GLADD Local Groups

Particularly away from large cities, members can feel quite lonely and isolated. We encourage members to meet up socially on a regional basis. Realising that you have colleagues and friends living and working nearby, who might provide some informal support, and certainly friendship, can be very reassuring for many. We now have a number of regional groups across the country and we encourage members in each group to organise informal social events. This might be anything from a meal/take-away in a member's home through to a trip to a local bar or night club.

We currently have active local groups in the following areas:

  • East Midlands
  • West Midlands
  • Yorkshire
  • Edinburgh
  • Wales and West
  • North-West

If you are interested in attending a locally-organised GLADD event, or might even like to organise an event in your area, please do contact us and we will do everything we can to help support you. It is important that those of us who are confident about our sexuality help those who are less confident and encourage them to help themselves. We have a set of guidelines for members interested in doing this which can be downloaded in . We look forward to hearing from you.

GLADD National Meetings

Although many of our national meetings are held in London, we do try to hold at least one national meeting per year away from the English capital and also have a policy of hold the annual student-focused meeting away from London to enable as many students from across the country to participate as possible. In reccent years we have held meetings in Glasgow, Bristol, Birmingham, Manchester, Edinburgh and Oxford. We are grateful to our members in these areas who have helped organise these successful events.
